The HSRP requirement in India is under Rule 50 of the Central Motor Vehicle Rule 1989 and the HSRP Order of 2001 . From time to time, efforts have been made to apply the high security number plate, but this has been averted due to the number of vehicles and other intricacies. As such, since the year 2012, HSNP has been introduced on new vehicles at the time of purchase. Nevertheless, people kept getting normal plates when the plates broke due to any reason. But only and only High Security Number plates will be considered valid in future.

But from 1 April in 2019, the Central Government and the State Governments have stepped up efforts to implement it and now it has been made compulsory for all new and old vehicles in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh from October 2020.

Characteristic of HSRP Number Plate

The high security number plate is made of aluminum metal of 1.0 MM thickness, it also has a hologram and a laser coded serial number which is unique in itself.

The word "IND" is typed in blue on the left side of the plate, as far as we guess it is the code word for the English name of the country.

Apart from  this , a Hologram of circle shape also remains on this plate. Snap lock technology is used to apply HSNP to the vehicle. Under which ribbets are applied from outside to inside, after which this plate is permanently fixed on your car or bike.

Along with the number plate, a color coded sticker is also placed on the windshield of your vehicle. Whose color is determined according to the fuel of the vehicle. Blue color is maintained for petrol based vehicles.
